It's Time We Build Organisations That Match Our Biological Hardware
Watch Nina live for 5 minutes at DisruptHR - a fast, sharp case for organisations designed around how humans actually work.

Our brains are still running on 300,000-year-old hardware - built for connection, safety and recovery. Most workplaces were never designed with that in mind.
I offer neuroscience-based leadership consulting for teams under real pressure. I help organisations develop awareness and build the conditions - psychological safety, regulation, trust - needed for people to actually perform. Not training. Not therapy. Neuro-education built on psychology, sharpened by neuroscience, tested across thirty years running a business myself.
Our managers are struggling. Our best people are burning out. Culture initiatives aren't landing.
As I see it, the problem is simple: we built organisations for the wrong species. This isn't a failure of strategy - it's a nervous system problem, and once we understand it, we can work with it instead of against it. My real-world experience is what lets me translate the complex neuroscience we need to fix this problem into practical tools leaders and teams can use tomorrow - not on a retreat, not in a course, but in their actual working lives.
The more human-machine collaboration defines our days, the more urgent it becomes to notice how far we've drifted from our own biological potential - quietly, familiarly, without ever deciding to. My intention is to help us become more enabled humans.
UpgradingHumans starts with waking up to that distance.
UpgradingHumans happens at two levels.
Four live sessions, individually commissioned for your organisation. Each one led by Nina, grounded in neuroscience, and built around one question: why are your people struggling with their emotions, energy, relationships, or thinking under pressure - and what can understanding that actually change?
Not therapy. Not a wellness benefit. A structured educational programme that gives leaders and teams a working understanding of their own nervous systems - and what to do with that understanding in their actual working lives.
4 live online sessions - 60 to 90 minutes each - spaced over time - individually commissioned per organisation

Most organisations invest heavily in individual training and barely anything in the conditions that let people actually perform. Culture is simply "the way we do things around here" - the habits, norms and rituals that build it, day by day, mostly without anyone deciding to. Left unexamined, those norms quietly ritualise disconnection - and disconnection carries a performance cost: it switches off exactly the parts of the brain creative, collaborative work depends on.
Changing that rarely needs a large budget. It needs an honest look at which norms are undermining people, and the will to redesign them.
I work at both levels - with individual leaders, and with the structures, rituals and habits that either support or undermine the nervous systems of everyone in the building.
Your culture has a nervous system. The question is whether anyone is paying attention to it.

Most people meet UpgradingHumans first on a stage, or in a room.
Each talk is available as a keynote (45 to 60 min), conference talk (20 to 30 min) or lightning talk (5 to 15 min). Every workshop is scoped individually to your organisation.
These 5 minutes (from start to finish) are for you: my HR Disrupt talk just went online.
Watch the 5-minute talk→Powerful standalone talks, available at any length. Each keynote can be delivered as a conference talk, a summit keynote, or a compact lightning format.
Half-day to multi-session formats, scoped individually. Every workshop is designed around the question you are actually trying to answer - not a syllabus pulled from a shelf.

Twelve themes that can be scoped into any of the formats above. Each one is grounded in current neuroscience and built around what your people actually face at work.
Why stress lingers in the body - and how teams actually close the loop.
The biology that turns a group into a team that can think.
The human capacities no machine will ever replicate.
Dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, endorphins - the chemistry of performance.
Read the nervous system before you read the behaviour.
The conditions under which a group becomes smarter than its smartest member.
Emotions as predictive data, not noise to manage.
Why the brain resists change - and how to lead it anyway.
The neuroscience of rewiring stuck patterns into new defaults.
Belonging as a biological need, not a feel-good extra.
Stop fixing people. Redesign the environment around their biology.
How trust forms in the nervous system - and how to build it on purpose.

Our organisation has enjoyed the active support of many of the world's leading researchers in this field - neuroscientists, trauma clinicians and behavioural scientists whose work shapes everything I bring into the boardroom.
The same biology that breaks a person inside a cell is the biology quietly running your team meetings. Understanding one has made me sharper at the other.
